Before Kwame Nkrumah-Acheamphong, aka the “Snow Leopard from Ghana” steals the show at the 2010 Winter Games as the sole member of the Ghanaian Olympic team, he was Connecting with Canadians in Whistler and Quebec last week as he enjoyed a variety of Canada’s extraordinary tourism experiences.
Hosted in Canada by the Canadian Tourism Commission and its tourism partners, Kwame and his family had a chance to meet locals, have adventures and make memories before his eventual return in February when he will vie for his place in Olympic history. Kwame began his remarkable uphill climb to skiing success while working at an indoor ski dome in the UK where he became hooked on the downhill. After a few years of training and competing in world cup slalom and giant slalom events, Kwame is preparing for his first Olympic competition in Canada.
