A personal message from Kwame, The Snow Leopard

With qualification for the Vancouver Winter Olympics has come the ever present problem of sufficient funding. I must thank my long term sponsors who have supported me over the past years with funding to enable me carry on skiing, Base Camp Group, and Kiku. I must also thank the tourist board and people of Val di Fiemme who have contributed a huge amount with training and accommodation in the beautiful Italian Dolomites

Sponsorship of the Ghana Ski Team

Ski racing is not a cheap sport to pursue at the top level requiring funding for coaching, training, logistics and travel to name a few. Competing at an Olympics is also an expensive exercise especially when you are unfunded from your own country or other governmental sources.

Sponsorship is critical to allow Kwame, The Snow Leopard and the Ghana Ski Team to operate. Kwame is a global media star and this PR and coverage offers sponsors a great opportunity for brand association and promotion.  The Ghana Ski Team aims to develop a broader athlete development programme, which will require corporate investment on a large scale over a 5-10 year period.

Our main fundraising campaigns

The projects we are hoping to generate both financial support and product support for include:

1. The Trail to Vancouver 2010 - which involves raising funds to enable me ski, train well and also engage the services of a coach.
2. The Ghana Ski Slope Project - building a ski slope in Ghana, and bringing young Ghanaians to ski slopes in Europe to train and compete
3. The Snowleopard Challenge - a ski competition based in the UK giving racers competitive experience in a fun environment

Major Sponsors

Major sponsors are larger sponsors who typically provide funding to help develop the team. In some instances this might be a mix of product and financial support.  The team are looking for a number of major sponsors to help fund the athlete development programme and Ghana Ski Team over the next few years.

Major sponsorship starts at £10K p.a. depending on the mix of benefits, products and opportunities for the team.

Major Sponsors benefit from:

•    Brand association
•    Branding on the team website
•    Rights to promote the sponsorship
•    Product and branding images with Kwame
•    Typical 1 to 4 year sponsorship period

Plus much more including increased options such as branding on the team clothing, race jackets and at press conferences.

Team Partners

Team partners include an airline, Canadian Affair, Mid layer thermal clothing, Khunu and a pre Olympics Training Base, Tourism Mount Washington.

Team partners typically offer a combination of the following:

•  Critical services or products to the team 
•  Typical sponsorship package value of £10k+, mix of financial and product contribution
•  Min £5k financial sponsorship
•  Financial figure to be agreed on a sponsor to sponsor basis

Some team partner benefits include:

•    Graded size logo on team website
•    Mention in news section of website
•    Opportunity to have graded size logo on team vehicle
•    Agreed 2 appearances by athlete or whole team to sponsor events each season

Teaml partners also benefit from brand association, media releases, branding on the team website, right to promote the sponsorship, product and branding images with Kwame.

Technical Partners

Technical partners are smaller sponsors who typically provide services and products for the team.  These are things that the team needs to operate fully.

Techincal Partners typically offer a combination of the following;

•    Supply of essential products or services to the team
•    Smaller financial support for the team
•    Limited edition products for retail and licensing deals

Some techinical partner benefits include:

•    Graded size logo on team or athlete website
•    Opportunity to have graded size logo on team vehicle
•    Agreed single appearance to supplier events each season
