VAL DI FIEMME - TRENTINO 110 km of slopes among the most beautiful mountains in the world
The Val di Fiemme is encircled by mountain peaks of rare beauty, such as the Latemar, and widely recognized among the most beautiful mountains in the world: on June 26th, 2009, Unesco declared the Dolomites “World Heritage Site”.
The resort would win any ‘picture postcard’ setting as an idyllic winter sports setting with the UNESCO World Heritage Site listed mountains of the Dolomites as a beautiful backdrop and also of course great slopes. More than that it is centre of ski racing excellence and often hosts ski racing teams such as Canada, Italy and even Argentina.
For the past 4 years the Snow Leopard has based himself in this perfect location that has already seen him qualify for the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010. The ski resort of Pampeago in Val Di Fiemme sits at 1750 metres above sea level and the morning training runs leave you gasping for air.
The naturalistic paradise of Ski Center Latemar includes 50 km of ski tracks linking Pampeago, Predazzo and Obereggen. The skiing slopes of the Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia area caress the boundaries of Paneveggio Nature Park, one of the safeguarded environments which favoured the decision of Unesco to add Dolomites in its list of worthy sites. The pistes at Passo Rolle unfold before the majestic Pale di S. Martino. The sight from the skiing area Alpe Cermis, that includes the long track Olimpia (7,5 km), is one of the most enchanting in the Dolomites. A number of panoramic views of the famous calcareous mountains, that reflect the colourful shades of dawn and sunset, can be admired from Passo Lavazé-Oclini, where downhill and cross-country skiing merge together.
